Saturday after peach-picking we drove to the small town of Crozet, VA (about 20 minutes from our house) and had lunch at Uncle Charlie's. We had no idea what the place was until we walked in. It's a bar/restaurant, but it looks like a bar. We decided to stay and eat on the sole reason that it was named Uncle Charlie's. I kept thinking of that part in Sweet Home Alabama, "You have a baby!...In a bar..." Anyway, I couldn't believe the food when we got it. Here's a photo of the brunch menu:

I ordered the Eggs Chesapeake. It was poached eggs with a crab cake and hollandaise and it was amazing! Who would've thought?? Anyway, Charlie enjoyed running around, playing on stage, and sipping his Sprite that came with a cherry in it. I guess he likes bars. That's sad.

Here's Charlie playing on the stage at Uncle Charlie's. Notice his bow before he exits. I think Aunt Mel taught him that.

Here's a sign for a local brewery. I just liked that it said Charlottesville on it so I took a picture.

There's a children's museum here that has a 1700s cabin from the area. The kids can play with fake food and stuffed rodents. I made Andy's dad pose with the stuffed possum on his plate. I almost stole it to stick in our attic to make it feel more like home. :)

After lunch at the Uncle Charlie's we drove a little way up the Blue Ridge Parkway to an information station/museum called Humpback Rocks. Every other Saturday is an open jam session on the lawn. We happened upon it by accident and it was great!! Now, these are part of the Appalachians so it shouldn't surprise you to see that the "jam session" involved banjos, fiddles, steel guitars, and folk music/hymns. Anyone who wanted to could just stop by and join in. It was awesome. I could have stayed there all day and listened. We're planning a camping trip to go back and spend the day there and I'm going to try to convince Andy to pack a kazoo or harmonica just so I can post it on my blog.
Anyway, here's a video from the jam session. Check out the random hippie shaking the rain stick. That was the best part! We laughed a lot at that guy.

Fun with a napkin and a dessert menu...

Charlie's had three days of swim class. The first day he was perfect, the second he was horrible and today was somewhere in between. He loves the water and the pool, but true to his behavior since the move, he wants to be in control at all times. He doesn't like other people telling him when to splash, kick, blow bubbles, etc. I hope tomorrow goes better!

Andy's schedule has been crazy. He's has some really sick babies and it reminds us daily how thankful we are that Charlie is healthy and happy, even when he does yell and scream at us!

I could go for that breakfast right now...without the crab cake. Did anyone get the Omaha?

I know this is probably in another part of the hospital (and slightly off topic) but has Andy heard anything about Leroi Moore, the sax player with DMB? He was in an ATV accident at his farm in Charlottesville and is being treated at University of Virgina.

Max says hi! :)

Praise the Lord, I saw the light! Good tune. I did like the hippie rain-stick shaker. Give Uncle Charlie a smooch from us!
