Did you know...

Next week is National TV Turn-Off Week. I am considering having the TV off every minute that Charlie is awake. I've noticed that on the days that he doesn't watch TV he's happier, behaves better, eats better and sleeps better. In a nutshell, he functions better when I limit his screentime. I function better when I limit mine as well. So, next week I'm really going to try to have the TV off or just playing music until Charlie goes to bed. Then I can watch my "programs."

So, this makes me curious: What is TV viewing behavior like in your household? My answers are in blue.
1. How many TVs do you have in your house? We have two -- one in the living room and a 13- inch in front of the treadmill.
2. Any in your kids' rooms? No -- plan to keep it that way.
3. TV in your bedroom? No -- plan to keep it that way.
4. About how many hours a day do you spend watching TV? On a fun-filled night like Thursday I sit down to watch for about two hours after Charlie goes to bed. On other nights when there's not much I care to watch it's less than two hours. This has been a huge decrease, due in large part to our beloved DVR. I watch a lot less TV now that I can just watch the shows that I really want to. I don't channel surf anymore. I can also better control what TV Charlie watches. We've been watching a lot of Signing Time together lately and I can tell it's helping him learn new words. My DVR is full of Signing Time.

P.S. Right now I'm listening to Charlie on the monitor and he's talking in his sleep. That's just really funny to me. He takes after his daddy!
