It's a GIRL!!
I had my 20-week (at 21 weeks) ultrasound today and everything looks just as it should. I can't tell you how humbled and amazed we are to have that news. With every healthy bone, organ, muscle, etc. that they identified I couldn't help but think of each of our friends with precious babies who were born with congenital issues -- scoliosis, spina bifida, omphalocele, etc. We know there's no guarantee that our baby girl will arrive safe and healthy but it's tremendous peace of mind right now, especially for her daddy who only sees very sick newborns! Every day we thank God for our safe, healthy, blessed family, and while we know that the future may hold anything we find great joy in the present. It's amazing to look at our good friends who have children with medical challenges and see how those precious kids are blessing the lives of so many around them. We know without a doubt that had the news been different today we would have many challenges to face, but the blessing of loving our baby girl would be the same just as it is for all of those with sick babies. We're just happy and more in love with our little family everyday. I pray that we never take that for granted!
I'll close this out with a song that I've heard before, but someone sang it in church on Sunday and sitting there with this little baby kicking around inside me, let's just say that my hormones won out!
P.S. That's not our church, but I like the way Kim Walker from Jesus Culture sings the song so this is the one I posted. David Crowder also has a great version.
