Howdy! We made it back from Texas last night and we had a great time, but first things first.
Last night we stopped at a random pizza place by the Richmond, VA airport before heading home to Cville. We ordered two calzones which consisted of the bread stuffed with mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, and two slices of luncheon ham. I don't know what world these people live in, but in my world luncheon ham belongs on a sandwich, not in a calzone! What I wouldn't give for some One Guy (shout out to LBB) right now. Anyway, given the Salvadorian flag on the wall and the various Mexican art I would guess that Antonio of Antonio's pizza is of the Latin American flavor and not the Italian flavor. He has no business owning a pizza place. I digress...
While we were eating there was a TV on in the corner of the room. I had my back to it but Andy and Charlie were watching the football game. All of the sudden Charlie pointed straight at me and plainly said, "Momma, you're a p_nis." EXCUSE ME??!! At this point I was recalling that between this restaurant and our house is a military academy and wondered if they have a preschool program. After I tried to explain to Charlie that we only use that word when talking about our bodies, Andy clued me in on where it all came from. Apparently there was a UPS commercial on and Charlie got confused and thought the announcer said "You p_nis." Good grief. I'd just like to go on record and say that NONE of this type of stuff was in any of the baby books that I read during pregnancy.
Now that that's taken care of...we had a great time in Texas. I've decided that we actually needed four weeks to make an appropriate visit -- one week with my folks, one with Andy's, one in Lubbock and one on a beach in Mexico! We had so much fun at my parents', near Austin, with all my sisters and their families. Charlie is obsessed with my niece Jordyn (seven). He actually spent two days and nights at his cousins' house while Andy and I stayed at my parents'. He didn't care at all that he was away from us. That's his usual response though so I shouldn't have been surprised. Jordyn was in tears when we left for Arlington to visit Andy's family. It was sad and cute. I love cousins!
Here's the bunch.
This is my niece Riley. She's just about the cutest and funniest thing ever and I'm obsessed with her. She's almost walking all on her own and I can't wait for her to tear her momma's house to pieces! Given Riley's big personality, she definitely will. Her Uncle Andy thinks she's pretty awesome, too but was disappointed that she wouldn't sit still to snuggle with him.
I have more to talk about, especially regarding our visit to the DFW area, but I need to download those pictures so I'll just leave you hangin'. I will say that I appreciate all of the condolences I've received about the Cotton Bowl. I'm still embarrassed and grieving, especially since Santa was so kind to give Andy and me Texas Tech Cotton Bowl t-shirts. Oh well...

Looks like a blast-but I bet it was exhausting! Charlie is HILARIOUS! It is amazing the things they pick up on.
Yeah!!!!!!! I can't wait to see you. Clayton has missed Charlie. Good old UPS. Clayton has said curse words trying to say something else..thank goodness it has never been in public!
Oh wow is all I can say to the UPS story! :) Looks like ya'll had a great time as a family!
That UPS story is hilarious! The other day, my 5 year old was watching Kyle make pancakes. When Kyle flipped one over - slightly burnt - Joshua said, "Daddy, that pancake looks like hell."
Excuse me?! Fortunately, my calm husband simply asked what Joshua meant, and Joshua was able to explain that it was dark and and slightly burnt and looked like it had been on fire - you know, like hell. Or at least, like how he imagines hell looks.
It only gets more fun, Amy!
Charlie is awesome!! Thats just all there is to it!! He cracks me up everytime. I love hearing Charlie stories!
