Revelations...
1.I just found out that the closest Sonic to our place in Virginia is 22 miles away. I'm almost in tears.
2. Does anyone know if I can get Rotel in Virginia? I may have to purchase a case here and take it with us. Same goes for fajita seasoning and salsa.
3. Why do people outside of Texas think brisket is something only Jewish people eat?
4. We sold Andy's truck two weeks ago and Charlie still says "No ride black car (my car), ride red car (Andy's truck)." What's he going to say when we rock his world and move him across the country? "No rain, dust storm. No trees and water, mesquite and dirt."
5. Before any of you see Charlie and are shocked by his appearance, I should let you know that he got his first real haircut yesterday and his shaggy, curly hair is gone. I'm almost in tears over that, too.
6. Last night my dear pal bought me a "goodbye margarita." If anyone else feels the need to do the same I can make the time. I mean, our friendship is that important.
7. Charlie thinks the song Frère Jacques is about a shark.
8. My aunt asked my if we wanted the 1970s white velvet couch and matching chairs that were in my grandparents' house. I've coveted these since I was born. I've always dreamed of the day when I, too, would feed my grandkids chocolate popsicles and forbid them from going into the room with white furniture. Now we have no way to get them and take them to Virginia. This almost brings me to tears as well.
9. I just gave away the stereo that my sister and I got for high school graduation. The first night that I was in the dorm by myself at ACU I played a tape of Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven over and over on that stereo and cried because I was lonely. It was so sad to see it go.
10. I guess I should go pack something now.

Yup, the Sonic thing sucks. We have to drive to Delaware (1 hr 15 mins from Annapolis) to get to a Sonic....which we've done a few times. And YES you can get Rotel. I buy it by the case from Sams club. I occasionally order spicy things (like Old El Paso Hot Enchilada sauce....that I can only get in Mild here) -- luckily it's easier to track things down and have them shipped to you.....from the lands of spicy foods :) My husband is from New Mexico and mild just won't do it for either of us anymore!!

I cannot believe you are about to be gone. It can't be true! Just think, no wind, but things should be greener :)!!!
I want to see Charlie's hair. I loved those little curls. I would cry over that as well. I cut Jacob's hair about every 5 weeks and have been doing that since he was 6 months old, but he's got more hair than I know what do with and I don't want him looking like Celine Dion's kid.
What a bummer about Sonic. If we come to visit by plane, I promise to get you some tots and cheese and a coney right before we board and have them in your hands the moment we arrive. You'll have some new and fun places to choose from though, and if they have Friendly's in VA then you better get ready for some awesome icecream sundaes!
You need to choose whether you love Chips and Queso or Andy more.
I just want to point out that Chips and Queso make us feel really good, they never stink up the bathroom, they never work night shifts, and they are cheap to upkeep.
Maybe you should just stay.......
Okay, I'm a "lurker" and if you do make your blog private, I'd like to be invited. :) Random fact: my parents and their best friends are planning a vacation to Charlottesville in July. Go figure. Until last week I had no idea where it was. Good luck on your move. I read somewhere that moving is the third most stressful thing one can go through (after death and divorce)...although I'm sure you know that already!
very funny update. Don't give Chuck too hard a time about the song, I was convinced I had "left my brains down in A-frica" for many years.
I like the new look. Now you have to tell us all about your adventures whenever you get a chance, plus funny Charlie stories and pics. Miss Y'all.
This is to Shanta, sure would love to read your blog, but is is private and I need an invite. Would it be possible to get one from you? I would love to keep up with you and your little family. Amy's Mom, Karen Forest

I love the new site design! Perfect. Charlie is really growing up. Hope you settle in soon and find all the things you want. My niece and her family just moved to NC where her husband is doing his residency at Duke. I hope to get up that way sometime to see her. You young ones are on too many adventures. I am lucky to get LaG or B'trop once a week.
