This & That

Yesterday in bible class we were talking about the Old Testament Jewish laws and how we are freed from those through the message of the Gospel. In order to demonstrate the extremes of the old law we read some of the more interesting rules given to Aaron regarding his descendants and their access to the temple. I volunteered to read and here's some of what I ended up reading aloud:

Leviticus 21 16 The LORD said to Moses, 17 "Say to Aaron: 'For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God. 18 No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; 19 no man with a crippled foot or hand, 20 or who is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles.

Little did I know as I drove to church that morning that I would be discussing dwarfs or well, other things. Awesome.

Moving on...did you catch the beginning of the Planet Earth special series on The Discovery Channel? You should look for it on the schedule and set your DVR! It's pretty amazing. Charlie even sat and watched some of it with me last night--he was glued.

I need to be on that show "What Not to Wear." I wear a baseball cap no less that three days a week and I don't know if I have any shirts that aren't solid colors. I can't remember the last time I wore a dress or skirt but I think it may have been in October. I wear the same jewelry everyday--grandma's diamond stud earrings, wedding ring set, watch--no matter the occasion. I don't wear necklaces because I feel that they always hang weird on me. Dressing up means slacks, whatever shirt I find which is likely a faded polo from Old Navy or a shirt from Wal-Mart, and my too-small blue jean jacket. The thing is that I know what looks good on others and what should look good on me but I feel guilty ever buying clothes. I probably spend no more than $100 a year on clothes and shoes for myself. Andy's got tons of nice clothes because he needs them for work but I never buy clothes. It's not that he doesn't "let" me. hate shopping for myself because things never fit right. It just reminds me that I need to lose thirty pounds. I think buying new clothes makes me feel like I'm saying, yes, this is my weight and I have no intension of losing it any time soon. I just kind of feel gross right now. I know we all get that way! AND DON'T leave comments like, "You're beautiful just how you are" and stuff like that. I'm not fishing for compliments or reassurances. I'm just venting.

We played outside on Saturday and did a bunch of yard work. Charlie loved it.

I love that picture of Charlie's feet. And I'm about to send you an email about the clothes thing.

You know I am with you. If my mom and my sister didn't buy me clothes, I would be in the same clothes for 10 years. I feel you.

Charlie is a doll. I love him

Interesting verse. I didn't realize "testes" were in the bible. :)

Loved Planet Earth. Fascinating in HD. Crazy real.

Clothes--I think you described me. I only have solid colors and I wear jeans, t shirt, and hair pulled back--EVERYDAY. May we can get help together?

What precious feet!

Charlie is so missed here in La Grange. I just want to come up there and play with those chubby little feet.

Clothes...right there with ya'. Except that I'm lucky to wear jeans on one weekday. I'm usually in sweats! I get hand-me-downs from my sister. :) Do you think what not to wear could take on a group?!

Those are the cutest chubby little feet. Your little guy is so adorable.

I ran across your blog the other day and I saw you had a link to LaGrange, Tx, which caught my eye b/c I grew up in Schulenburg, which is right next door...you don't look familar, did you grow up there. I lived in Schulenburg until I went off to college and I graduated from HS in 1993. Please don't think I am crazy, I just thought it was a small world and it was neat seeing LaGrange, Texas...
