Here it is--the first birthday post for Charlie. In three minutes (according to my computer's clock), it will be exactly one year since Charlie entered our lives. I have absolutely no idea where the last year has gone! Our baby boy has brightened our lives like we never imagined. People always ask if I can imagine my life without him. Well, our life was wonderful before we had Charlie but things sure are different now that he's here.
Now bathtime is fun for the first time since I was a kid. Santa and the Easter bunny visits my house again. Birthday parties involve games and party favors. I know the early morning cartoon schedule again. I get to own things that I always wanted but never got--Tonka trucks, a ride-on tractor toy and tiny-hand-sized footballs.
I also have this little boy who would rather snuggle his head on my shoulder than do just about anything else. He beams everytime I walk in the room and thinks I'm hilarious. He loves his daddy like crazy and thinks his Aunt Mel is the funniest thing on the planet. He's just a true joy, so in honor of our baby boy I'm making a list of some of my favorite things about Charlie:
1. He'll snuggle anything & anyone who will snuggle him back.
2. The only word that's ever come out of his mouth was "Daddy" on Christmas morning when Andy got home from work. We haven't heard a word since.
3. Charlie LOVES to dance and does every chance he gets.
4. He would eat all day if we let him and gets really mad when you mess around with his food (maybe that's not my most favorite).
5. The folks at his parents' day out programs love him.
6. He thinks he's just as big as any of the others kids he's playing with which gets him in trouble when those kids are older.
7. Charlie smiles at anyone who smiles at him.
8. Charlie loves animals and when we go to a friend's house where there's a dog or cat he barks at it and crawls around chasing it.
9. He gets shy around pretty girls and hides his head on my shoulder.
10. If I'm laying on the ground Charlie likes to lift up my shirt and play peek-a-boo with my belly. It's a little degrading but really funny!
Since it was Charlie's birthday today I took some cookies to his class and played for a little while. It was really fun and entertaining! Of course I had to take some pics!
Charlie throwing a fit because I took his crayon away. The teachers couldn't believe he was acting like that because he's perfect for them. I said it's just mom & dad who get to see his "special" side. Look how concerned his friends are--it was hilarious!
Birthday cookies make everything better!

I love Charlie Bowman! He is a precious little boy with so much heart and character. It is a blessing to watch him grow this past year.
As him mom once said, " I would attack a tiger with my bare hands if someone came after him!"
We love you Charlie!

Happy belated Birthday Mr. Charlie!!!! I can't believe he is already 1. Seriously, where has that sweet little baby gone...he looks so big!
I can't wait to provide a Grammy shoulder for Charlie to lay his head upon tomorrow. His Granddaddy and I sure miss our sweet little boy. The pictures are too cute. Love ya, oh and yes he is truly awesome because he has equally awesome parents. Oh and of course not too shabby of two sets of doting grandparents as well.
