Happy 6 Months Charlie!!

Well, Charlie turned six months old on Sunday and we couldn't be more infatuated with him! He's a crazy little boy! Two days after his birthday he crawled for the first time. He's such a busy little thing. He always seems to find what he's not supposed to, chewing on our shoes, beating on my laptop, and constantly getting stuck under furniture. He cracks us up!

In the past 6 months we've developed some new phrases and behaviors to help us deal with and describe our life with Charlie.
1. "Andy, can I run Charlie through the carwash?" means "Andy, can I hand Charlie to you in the shower so you can clean him?"
2. When Charlie is awake when he shouldn't be, we refer to him as "big-eye awake," not to be confused with "floppy-head asleep."
3. Each night before we go to sleep one of us grabs the other and says, "Want to go look at Charlie?" So we sneak into his room and look at him in his crib then come out and talk about how cute and wonderful he is.
4. When Charlie gets upset and cries really hard in response to something we do (like put him down or buckle him in his carseat) we say, "Ummm...Charlie's gettin' you in trouble!"
5. Charlie is so busy that when we put him to sleep unswaddled he wakes himself up flailing his arms around. To combat this we use a great little swaddler with velcro on it. Like we do with most things, we developed a special name for his swaddler. So, every night we put Charlie in his "sock" and he goes to sleep.

These are just a few. I'm sure we'll develop plenty more as time goes by!

Well, our other news is that I'll be having mouth/throat surgery this Monday to help alleviate my sleep apnea. I'm having uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP). Can you pronounce that? Neither can I! Basically it means that they'll cut out my uvula and reshape my soft palate. They'll also remove my tonsils and reshape the base of my tongue. Sound horrible? That's what I hear too. The recovery is supposed to be really horrible and last up to a month. Great!! My folks are here to help out with Charlie while I recover. Your prayers are much appreciated!

I've got more pics!
This is what happens when Charlie sneezes while eating.

Happy 6 month b-day Charlie! That's so cool!! I love that you and Andy go look at him each night, then talk about how cute he is. It's things like that that make me look forward to being a mom! Hope your surgery goes well...we'll be praying for you!

Sweet post.. I can't believe he's already 6 months old! We will be praying for a successful surgery on Monday, and a quicker than one month recovery! :)

Amy, my brother-in-law had the same surgery you are having over christmas. while he didn't gain any holiday weight it wasn't nearly as bad as he thought is would be. only bad thing..... he still sleeps with his breathing machine. i think he breaths better in the day though. best of luck to you. it sure has been fun seeing what crazy adventures you and your new baby have been up to!

Amy- good luck in surgery. Is Andy doing it? :)
So, I guess that means you'll be off the praise team for a couple of Sundays? I hope recovery is quick for you.

Those were some of the funniest pictures of Charlie so far! I love the soap opera one... so cute.

Amy,
I haven't seen you in a long time, but I have some how found your blog. As an otolaryngology resident I was excited to hear you are supporting your local ear, nose, and throat doctor and getting the sleep apnea full meal deal. Hope it goes well. Your family looks great. What type of residency is Andy doing?
