My Man Gave Me a Snoogle
Are you jealous? You should be. Today Andy brought home a Snoogle. It's a big "C"-shaped body pillow. Now, Andy is always a wonderful husband, but this purchase, as he himself pointed out, was a little selfish. One of the benefits that Andy has in being my husband is that he gets to use the "good pillow." This is a down pillow that my Grandma Forest made from the feathers of her mother's featherbed. It even has vintage fabric. It's heavy and Andy likes to put it on his head (he calls it his "lid") when he sleeps. It also happens to be the best pillow to support my growing belly, so Andy lost pillow privaleges about two months ago. He's been dying to get them back, hence the purchase of the Snoogle. I'm excited to test drive my Snoogle tonight, and Andy's eagerly anticipating the return of his favorite "lid". Good job Andy, good job.

Baby Charlie Update 2005
I had my regular doctor's appointment today at 4:00. When they called me back, they said, "Have we done your glucose test? We need to do that now." Uh oh...those three cookies and glass of milk I just had is not going to help this. Guess what? I failed with flying colors! Great. I get to go back and do the three hour monster. Good times. My doctor was asking weird questions today:
1. "What will you do for birth control after the baby?" "Have you thought about an IUD?" "How long do you plan to wait before the next pregnancy?" Oh my gosh! Calm down doc! The only answer we had for him, that we stole from our brother-in-law (shout out to Ted), was, "We'll wait until this baby can fetch a diaper."
2. "I guess you're planning on breastfeeding?" Right...like the wife of a pediatrician has the choice not to.
3. "Will he be circumcised?" Yes. "Do you want me to do it?" Ummm... "I'm very good. I'm even a certified Mohel." Wow--that would be great if we were Jewish! I didn't even know my doctor was Jewish! You learn something new everyday.
4. "Everything going well?" My hands are numb and hurt. "It's carpel tunnell." "You know what we do about that?" "Nothing." Great!

Why did my nurse laugh when she told me my weight? Gosh! I'm wearing winter clothes and boots today for cryin' out loud! I told her they were steel-toed boots (they aren't), so she cut me some slack. Anyway, I'm doing great, Charlie's doing great, everything's great. 11 weeks left. Oh my goodness!

Amy,
You will love the snoogle. It took me a few nights to get used to mine, but I love it now. It does make it a little akward having to get up to pee in the middle of the night, but I came up with a system and it's all good now. Glad to hear all is well.

I LOVE my snoogle!! Although I can't imagine how you are going to move at night being pregnant, with your mask on, and tangled up in a big curvy pillow. Funny thing - Scot bought me my snoogle too - because all the pillows I had in bed with me (my "support") were knocking him out of bed. :)

I know it sounds dumb but if you hold your arms out straight in front of you, flex your wrist back towards you, and gently pull on your fingers like you are going to snap your hand right off, the carpal tunnel will sometimes let up. I had it with AC and a massage therapist taught me that trick - it really did help some.

And finally on the birth control issue - which obviously Scot and I flunked miserably with five pregnancies in four years - they actually decided to ask me that question DURING my c-section, I kid you not. What are they all so worried about anyway? Aren't we pregnant ladies paying their bills? :)

Being that I am male and, henceforth, not pregnant, I hesitate to ask such a question. But, how can your hand be both numb and hurt at the same time? (Just asking, so when it happens to Holly I will be fully prepared to sympathize.)

Ooooh...do you have to be pregnant to get a snoogle? I think I might want one!

Amy,

You and Andy are crazy. I wondered where all of my feather pillows disappeared to. Anyway I am glad that Andy likes it so much.
