CLOSED!!!
That's it folks--yesterday we finally closed on our new house! I've already been over there twice since 9:00 last night just to walk around and make myself familiar. So, the plan is to paint, repair, etc. in the next week and move in by Nov. 15. We're going to rent out our current house, and we have several renters to choose from. It's really different going from our current house, built in 1996, to the new one, built in 1955. Andy & I are total suckers for older houses. A few months ago we wanted to make an offer on a house built in 1928 but it got snatched from us. I love the character and originality of older houses. Our current house is the exact same floorplan as the one next to us--we had to add our own originality because it didn't come with any. The bad thing is that a fifty-year-old house has inevitable issues, and they smacked me in the face when we went over there last night. It needs a very thorough cleaning, painting, replacement of fixtures, etc. Plus we need to replace some of the "improvements" the former owners made. Some improvements were just never finished. I'm so excited though. We have a huge sunroom on the back of the house and it involves one of my main goals. I want it to be so nice and cozy that I can curl up on the couch (that we don't actually have yet) in there with my down comforter and fall asleep watching the snow fall onto the backyard. Ahhhh...I can't wait! Good times! Some have asked for pictures and there's two issues to that: (1) I can't find my USB connection to download from my camera, (2) I want to wait until we're done with most of the changes before I send pics.
In other news, after Andy gets off work we're on our way to the Walnut Creek Ranch (www.walnutcreekranch.com) in Water Valley, TX (outside of San Angelo) for our church class's annual retreat. You've got to look at the website--the place is so awesome! Anyway, it's gonna be a great weekend and we get to hang with the Murrays who are driving all the way from Dallas to be there! I can't wait!!
