So...Andy's got the itch again to move to a different house. In the spring it was a house on the golf course--don't get too excited--it's a public course and we basically just wanted to stalk our old neighbors Robby & Connie (they can run but they can't hide!). Well, we staved off that urge but it's back. This time it's the idea that we can rent our current house out as an investment property. It's actually a good idea considering there's only 3 families left on our street and cul-de-sac and the rest are college kids driving their Mustangs and Tahoes way too fast. College guys live on both sides of us and are relatively tame except for the fact that one house has a trampoline in the back yard and at 12:30 am I see their heads bobbing above our fence. When we moved into our house three years ago there was only one house being rented to college students. I now feel the need to join in the great exodus and find a quieter neighborhood, especially since the nursery would be at the front of our house where I have previously witnessed Tech kids relieving themselves in the early hours of the morning when the party's still going strong. And no, the cop living two houses down was no deterrent.
So, the house we're looking at is pretty great but I don't look forward to moving. Let me rephrase--I HATE moving! Plus, I really love our little house. We've put a lot of ourselves into it and I feel that we finally have it how we want it. I remember the first night we spent here--we returned to Arlington from our honeymoon, loaded up the truck and u-haul with gifts and headed west. Our first stop in Lubbock was Denver Mattress because we didn't have a bed. We headed to our new home (which we had not yet moved into), unloaded the bed and bedding, ordered a pizza & went to sleep. What a great time! I picture bringing our new baby here and crying as we drive the u-haul off again in 3 years when we leave for Andy's fellowship. I picture a swingset in the backyard and watching the Peanut stumble in the front yard while learning to walk. I picture the sidewalk getting worn out between our house and the Nelson's from Ashley & I going back and forth supporting each other during this "new parenthood" phase. This is our first home--it's the place we'll drive by every time we visit Lubbock and tell our kids the same story about--like my parents and in-laws do with their first houses. So this isn't a funny story, it's a little weird and sad, but that's the mood I'm in right now. ...
Ok, I'm over it. Today I bought some cute stuff for friends that just had twins: A girl (Callaway) and a boy (Cooper). I know people will buy us cute baby stuff (mainly grandparents & aunts) and I really won't need to buy it myself, but it's gonna be hard resisting! There's so much out there!
We're about to go eat with the Nelson's and go to the drive-in. Yes, Lubbock has a drive-in and it's awesome! Andy and I have a particular set-up that we like to use: Air mattress in the bed of the truck with pillows, blankets, and battery radio. It's awesome! For all of you that think Lubbock is the end of the earth and no place to live, you're dead wrong! Just spend a few summer nights out here and you'll be in love forever! There's nothing like it! (I already know I'll get a posting from Leslie backing me up on this one!)

Baby Bowman Update 2005
I sat at the coffee shop for a little while this morning and while I really wanted that cafe au lait I (of course!) avoided the caffeine and went for some blended orange drink. About 30 minutes into the drink I felt like the Peanut was doing the riverdance or something. Looking back at the menu board at the description of the orange drink I saw that it contained an "energy supplement"--oops, my bad. "Peanut, tell mommy 'thank you' for the high."

All I can say is, DO NOT MOVE. I love being so close to you. Okay, now I can be supportive since I got that off my chest. You and Andy will make the right decision about the house. I just know it.

Things great about living 5 houses away from eachother:
1. Cody & Andy have both delived children before so we are in good hands. Both know CPR and can start an IV.
2. There is always a drop off babysitter just a few houses down when you forgot something at the grocery store.
3. When Sesame Street is teaching oppoites tall and short, Carley and Peanut will have live examples.

We love you guys!
