Earlier I was thinking about how dependent I am on the Internet--not only dependent but I have a deep affection for the Internet. I started to wonder about what I wouldn't be able to do/couldn't figure out how to do if someone took it away from me. Things like: travel planning & booking (which I'm obsessed with), ebay shopping (another growing obsession), getting directions to anywhere, stalking/talking with friends & family, academic research, movie schedules, phone numbers (I only use my yellow pages for the coupons in the back!), shopping, house hunting, people finding, getting the answer to ANY random question I have, figuring out how to take care of a child, anything to do with school, banking, definitions of words (dictionary.com--no need for the huge Webster's), current and future weather conditions, EVERYTHING! I'm constantly connected and if I go a day without it for no good reason (such as being on a beach in Belize) I get anxious. I have a philosophy about the web & business: If you don't have a website I don't want to deal with you. What does that mean? It means that even if I'm looking for the most remote cabin in the Rockies in which to spend the weekend, I better be able to book it online or you're not getting my money. Is all this bad? I don't think so. One day when we visit the pyramids in Egypt I expect to be able to book my camel from my couch at home!
I don't mean to brag, but my ebay expertise is going to get us some great deals on baby gear (crib example below)! Here's a little tip for those not acquainted with the "bay." If looking for larger items like furniture, look in specific areas (Metroplex, Houston, Austin, etc.) for sellers who specify "pick up only." It means that they don't want to go through the hassel of shipping large items and it's gonna save you a bundle of $$ by picking it up yourself (or having the 'rents pick it up for you). You will likely save over $100 per item in shipping. What it also means is that the volume of bids that item will receive is a tiny fraction of what it would otherwise be, meaning that the price will not go as high and you will have fewer bidders to compete with. So, looking for a bedroom set, amoire, china hutch? Check out ebay--trust me, when you find a used item in good condition for a steal of a price it's like winning the biggest game of the season--and you can still pay your electric bill!

Ah.........Ebay!!!!! Have you noticed you are doing some things like ME?????? It is a scary thought, isn't it sweetheart?????
Don't get too crazy!!!!! One in the family is enough, don't you think?????
I know one thing...Karen likes her punctuation marks!!!!!! :)
Ha, ha! Amy's turning into Karen (aka "mom forest", we stopped calling her "mom" years ago because she stopped answering to it).
In response to Karen's & April's posts--Mom, I know you desparately want to think I'm turning into you but the magnitude of my obsessions are no where near yours! Also, it creeps me out that on all your posts you always write "sweetheart" and "honey" because you never usually call me that. What gives? April--shu-up, stupid siser!
Amy, you crack me up. I'm serious. HEY- are ya'll staying with us for homecoming? James had mentioned something about it..
We would tear it up!
Oh- and I love the crib. Happy Bidding! (Isn't that what fellow Ebayers say to each other?)
OKAY! The Sweethearts and Honeys are from my 21 years of working with the kids here at school and I guess I desperately miss my "Own Kids" so the pet names are just emerging fast and furious in my Golden Years! Yes, I do love the punctuation marks!! You have to admit the exclamation point and the question mark have extraordinary personalities!
