Andy's off this weekend and it will be just the three of us all weekend. It's been a while since that's happened! We'll go downtown tonight, sit on the grass with pizza from Christian's, listen to a free concert and enjoy some excellent people watching. Tomorrow I think we're going to a ranger station for a picnic and an Appalachian jam session. Nice.
Here are some picture from the 4th. Charlie and I headed down the road to Ash Lawn-Highland, home of James Monroe. It's just down the road from Monticello. We invited Andy but he was working.
After visiting Monroe's home we stopped at a cafe between there and Monticello for cookies and root beer. We made ourselves at home.
The other night we had dinner on The Corner then shot the stomp rocket and lounged on the grass at UVA. Charlie loves grass. Too bad we don't have any at our townhouse.
The newest member of our household...Diego. Last Sunday Charlie woke up and started playing with his imaginary friend "Diego." You all know him. At least Charlie didn't say he was playing with some pale little boy dressed in old bloody clothes or something. Then I would have freaked. I can handle Diego. Anyway, Diego's gone to church with us, taken baths with Charlie, had meals, played at the park, etc. Poor Charlie. All of our neighbors and friends are gone for summer internships and he's lonely. He mentions daily that he wants a baby brother or sister. This is a big improvement from 6 months ago when he said he was the baby. Well, he'll have to wait awhile -- no baby here. Hopefully that will change in the next year but still waiting for now.
P.S. Why does Blogger hate me and my formatting??

Lincoln saw the pictures of Charlie and said "where's Charlie" I told him he was at home in Charlottesville and he said "see Charlie" so I said we will soon, and he started crying and said "see CHarlie now!" We're excited to see you guys again!
Great post and our Charlie is just too precious and missed so much. Tell him and Diego that Grammy and Granddaddy say hi and we love them both. LOL!
This week Charlie added "Wyatt" to his list of imaginary friends. Wyatt is a character from a cartoon on PBS called "Super Why."
