Hope you all had a great Christmas! We did the Texas tour with a total travel time of 17 hours from home-Andy's family-my family-home. Charlie did excellent thanks to a total of 16 hours of DVD viewing. I know it's bad to sit him in front of the TV but whatever gets us by on these long road trips is fair game. I've got lots to say about the past week but I have to save this post for what we found upon our return home.
My sis Mel got the cage down from the attic. I'm pretty sure it's because she wanted me to blog about her doing it. Thanks, Mel! 
Andy was again very grossed out. He gave Charlie his bath instead, saying that he has no problem abandoning traditional gender roles. He's so progressive!
As you can see in the pic the possum beat his/herself up pretty bad trying to get out of the cage. Because of this and the fact that animal services is closed through the weekend, Andy put in a call to our pal (shout out!) who frequents the gun range. A short drive to a cotton field and Angel earned her name. Better that than a coyote!
I'd like to think that Possum Watch '07 won't have to be renamed Possum Watch '08 but only time and the absence of noises will tell. Since we now own this trap I think I'll move on to catching stray cats. Let me know if you need me to catch something on your property. I've pretty much got this down. Maybe I'll start a business. I'll even honor competitor's coupons.

GROSS. I didn't realize until looking at the picture how much blood was on that cage! I think I may have touched it...oh gross.
I can't believe you've caught 2 possums! Think of the things we could catch if you brought it to my house. :-)
Poor Angel! I'm not much of an animal lover, but I hate to think of any living thing being hurt or killed. That's what he/she gets for breaking and entering though. I think Flowers was cuter.
I am laughing so hard! Only the Bowmans would have two possums. Hilarious! Who knew you were living in a wild life refuge.
If Flowers is a boy possum and Angel is a girl possum there might be some young baby possums up there. Oh the joys!

Only TRUE country girls could do that. Somebody's got to do it, right? I may have said it before but I'll say it again. There is NOTHING cute about a possum. They are nasty and ugly creatures. The face only a mother possum could love. How they got on the ark I'll never know. But, then again it's what's on the inside. There's a blog for you.
"And Angel earned her name...." That made me laugh out loud real hard. I love these stories.

I wouldn't have believed Melody pulled that cage out if you didn't have photo evidence! :) Hilarious though, I hope you don't have anymore of those!
