Missin' the Coun'ry

This weekend we headed to the middle of nowhere for our Class MED (Married, Engaged, & Dating) retreat. It was AWESOME! Much thanks to April C. for all the planning! We went to Walnut Creek Ranch, which I highly recommend for a retreat, family weeked, or a nice getaway. The beds were all custom with high thread count sheets and duvets. Every inch of the place was designed with western touches--not the annoying indian print kind, but really cool things! All the bathroom sinks were custom made with a metal bucket as the sink bowl. Curtain rods (branches) were mounted with deer antlers, and I saw tons of little things I wanted to steal for Charlie's nursery. I didn't though. It was just such a great break. Next weekend we head to Cloudcroft for a getaway we won in a charity auction--can't wait! I love the country--makes me miss home!

Like I said, the location was in the middle of nowhere and the road to the ranch was really bad with lots of holes. The Ascender could have cared less though. She barely even noticed. What a great car! I solved one of her mysteries today all on my own--Andy was so proud! Since I got new tires last week, the spare has been mounted wrong under my car. I could tell this, but the Isuzu guy just said it needed to be tightened--wrong!!! After consulting my trusty manual and investigating further, I discovered that the tire shop guy mounted the spare upside down. So, I proceded to correct the problem by lowering the spare, trying to pull the tire out from under the car to turn it over, getting Andy to do it instead because my arms weren't long enough, then remounting the tire properly. Ahhh...sweet satisfaction!! Now, before you panic picturing a pregnant Amy under the car mounting, unmounting, & whatnot, I'll tell you that my car has a super awesome cable mounting system that required very little effort on my part (except for that glitch with my arms being too short). It made me feel great that I did this, especially since just a few minutes earlier I had a fairly difficult time getting my own shoes on. As I've discovered about several things in the past few weeks, some things just make my uterus hurt. I'm sure everything will by month 9!

Glad you had a great time. Your dad and I were just talking tonight after he picked me up at 9 from the video store how much we love our small town living. The square was deserted except for us as we made our way to HEB. I had to get makings for my famous spinach tortilla rollups for our annual "Halloween Pig-Out" at school tomorrow. Then after school Trick or Treating around the square. It is 50% chance of rain tomorrow, so don't know what will happen. Our Little Princess, Jordyn, hopefully will get to come. Yep, we still have plenty of land for you kids to come and build a home. As I told Misti, we'll just build an above ground tunnel for our grandkids to go back and forth from their house to ours. NOW THAT IS A PLAN!

I just thought we'd just move into your place after y'all go to the nursing home. :)

Walnut Creek -- Cloudcroft -- Arlington -- River Bend Lodge -- Arlington -- who needs that new house!! Amy, you'll be surprised how short your arms get over the next couple of months! Glad you had a good time! With good friends, nothing else much matters!

I thought your bag was a little full when we left. Are you sure some of that great decor didn't make it home with you? What a great place huh? I liked being roomies with you! Although, I'm glad you got to go home and snuggle with Andy now instead of me...
