Just Some Random Things

(1) I was actually going to make dinner tonight. I even called Andy to give him a choice--hamburgers (spiked with Tabasco's new Chipoltle sauce--very good!) or spaghetti (the loyal standby). However, he informed me that he was going to dinner at Stella's (one of the nicer restaurants in LBB that actually uses tablecloths) to learn about skin diseases. He then informed me that he asked and I "wasn't allowed" to accompany him--thank goodness! I just don't think I could have heard all about flaking skin while trying to eat my dinner rolls. Doctors are different kinds of folk! They also get free food from drug companies.

(2) Do you know your mailcarrier? I know mine. His name is Tommy. He and his wife had a bad motorcycle wreck a few months ago, and his wife almost died but she's better now. His grown daughter has had diabetes since she was young and has a precious little boy, also named Tommy. I even know the names of the doctors who treated her as a child--Andy works with them. What else? Tommy is unhappy with the new scanning system, and he gave the guy from the Fort Worth office an earful about it the other day. Tommy also let me know what other doctors live on his route. He's proud of Andy and excited for his career in pediatrics. He's also anxiously awaiting Charlie's arrival in February. I wonder what else Tommy knows about us and whether he tells other people about it when he delivers their mail. Oh well, I appreciate the US Postal Service and Tommy. I'm pretty sure that it's something I take for granted, especially since I rarely use stamps or other services that would add up to paying for the daily service.

(3) I won an auction on eBay!! It's an old swinging cradle. I sent the payment today to the seller in NY, so I'm counting on Tommy to deliver it safely to our house. Something interesting though--on eBay, anytime someone makes an exchange the buyer and seller can leave a comment about the exchange experience. After I won the auction I checked the seller's comments. There were two negative comments from people (both from Canada) who had problems with payment or something. Do you know what the seller's response was? "DIRTY LYING CANADIAN!" Wow! Had I seen that before I bid on the cradle I would have resisted bidding simply on principle.

In fact, I do know my mail man. His name is Brian and he lives here in our apartment complex, actually right in the same building. The only problem with that is that I think he makes this his last stop of the day, and understandably since it's his home, but our mail gets here so stinkin' late it drives me crazy.

I'm teaching my 3rd graders about homophones this week. Maybe I'll use your blog as a little lesson. You eat dinner rolls, not dinner roles. Gosh, siser...you supid! On another note, I don't know my mail carrier because I have a real job, so I'm never home when my mail carrier comes!

Gross...skin diseases and dinner rolls. I can see why you were grateful not to be able to go! I've spoken to my mail carrier, but I don't know her name. She seems real sweet though. I think now I'll meet her the next time I see her.

I know my mail carrier. Her name is Angie, but I call her An-shie. She likes it when I do that. She's always in the best mood. I would be too if I got to ride around in an open-aired golf cart thing in 90 degree weather with blue pants that are too tight... wait. And April, I didn't know phones could be gay..what do you know?

Siser...you know that it's all in good fun. Anyone who knows us knows that we love each other and will be bestest friends forever and ever. Melody...you have no room to talk...you're a mean kid and everyone knows it!

Nuh uh siser--you hurt my feelers. Ummm..for the rest of you, the Forest girls don't use proper words when we talk to each other. Don't let it freak you out.

It's twin language...Melody had to learn it too out of nessecity. So did some of our roommates and close friends in college. Sorry we're so stupid sometimes (that's "supid" if you're one of us).

You have to admit, it must have been pretty wild around our house through the girl's growing up years. Their own twin language drove all of us a little crazy, and I had hoped they would out grow it, but as you can see they not only haven't out grown it, but have gotten others to join in.
