Here's our first post!! I say "our" because I'll try my hardest to get Andy to post on here too. Maybe I'll just post funny stories about him until he decides to take some control over this site. Until then he's at my mercy!
Here's the first funny Andy story:
On Friday Andy & I took Brook & Amanda's (our good friends) daughter Savannah (4 years old) to fly Andy's cool kite (thanks for the kite Momma Bo). After several failed attempts because of low wind (like that ever happens in Lubbock!) we walked back to the house. While we were walking, Andy was "flying" the kite around his head when the wind caught it and flew it right into his...well, let's just say it's a good thing I'm already pregnant. Watching Andy bent over with red face, Savannah laughed histerically and told us that she couldn't wait to tell her folks how funny Andy was. She said, "I'm gonna tell momma & pappa that Andy flew the kite in between his legs!" As soon as she walked in the door, that's exactly what she did. I love 4-year-olds! Thanks for the good times Andy!
Now that that's out of the way,
Baby Bowman Update 2005:
Thursday we heard the heartbeat for the first time. We had seen it before but never heard it since last time the doppler was broken. My doc let Andy find it first which was cool. I don't know if he was more excited about the heartbeat or getting to play with the doppler. As our friends' son Kelson (also 4 years old) says, "Dr. Andy is silly!"
I'll be 18 weeks on Wednesday and our next ultrasound is in two weeks. If the baby (AKA "the Peanut") cooporates we'll find out if it's a boy or a girl. I can feel little flutters now so I'm well on my way to believing that this is actually happening.
Andy & I are reading each other's parenting material in order to form a "well rounded" view of how to do this parenting thing. Andy gave me a pediatric textbook with a section about caring for a newborn--complete with EVERY possible thing that could be/go wrong with your child (because that's what every pregnant women needs to read!?). I gave Andy "The Baby Whisperer" which he actually looked over because he liked making jokes about the title--that and one of his Siamese twins, Eric, read it and used it with their baby Lily.
Ok, that's all for now--these are my office hours so I'm supposed to be grading the 80 papers I just collected from my students. I think I'll continue my "office hours" at the coffee shop where I'll have the added bonus of a nice sandwich and plenty of people-watching!
Love you all!!
Amy

I love the "Bowmans West". I will add this to my favorites. I agree with Kelson, "Dr. Andy is funny".
This is so much fun, I love it...please remind me to read it!!!
Honey, I love your site. I just want to say, "That's my daughter." So, my grandbaby is fluttering? Isn't it the most wonderful feeling, until the baby gets bigger and keeps its foot jammed into your ribs like I believe you did 27+ years ago. Of course April probably made you do it!!!!
hey, daughter sent you a comment on april 12 but it must have ended up in thetwilight zone. oh well, love your blog.
